Vulnerability

The elderly are particularly vulnerable and lonely during the time of quarantine. I was in lockdown with mum in our family home. Mum is 80; she is experiencing an unfamiliar fear and isolation. Cleaning her home gives her a sense of order and control. Tending her garden provided solace and consolation during a time of uncertainty. Her quirky belongings gave her an enormous sense of comfort and companionship. As a widow she missed her husband who was always her protector. She prayed persistently for the pandemic to end.
